Shopify app benchmarks show where your app stands against the market. This report covers the 2026 benchmarks for revenue and growth, customer value, conversion, churn, and traffic, from aggregated, anonymized data across more than 400 active Shopify apps connected to Prys, in many categories.
For each metric we compare the mean (average) app with the top quartile (the best 25%). The gap between the two is the useful part: it shows exactly where standard apps fall behind the leaders, from acquisition to retention, and how much room you have on each.
“Growth relies on context. If you only look at your own metrics, you are optimizing in a vacuum.”

Shopify app revenue and growth benchmarks
| Metric | Average app | Top quartile |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly revenue | $8,769 | $13,300 |
| MRR growth rate | 2.96% monthly (42% annually) | 5.75% monthly (96% annually) |
| Paying customer growth rate | 2.66% monthly (37% annually) | 4.95% monthly (79% annually) |
| ARPU | $27.13 | $36.30 |
What it means. The top quartile nearly doubles its MRR in a year; the average app grows by about 42%. Top apps add paying customers faster (4.95% a month against 2.66%), and earn more from each one: top-quartile ARPU is about a third higher. See how to grow a Shopify app to $100K MRR.
Shopify app LTV and funnel value benchmarks
| Metric | Average app | Top quartile |
|---|---|---|
| Customer lifetime value | $405 | $507 |
| Subscriber / trialist value | $95.19 | $162.81 |
| Install value | $43.25 | $71.26 |
| App store page visitor value | $9.43 | $13.58 |
What it means. These values tell you what each step of the funnel is worth, and so how much you can afford to pay for it. The average app store page visitor is worth $9.43, which is the break-even cost per click for traffic that lands on your listing. A subscriber in the top quartile is worth 71% more than the average. Prys calculates these values for your app by keyword, which is what lets you bid on ads by value instead of by guess.
Shopify app conversion rate benchmarks
| Metric | Average app | Top quartile |
|---|---|---|
| App store page visit to install | 19.34% | 30.67% |
| Install to subscribe / start trial | 29.89% | 49.96% |
| Visit to subscribe / start trial | 5.63% | 9.77% |
| Visit to new paying customer | 2.12% | 3.41% |
What it means. The biggest gap is right after the install: the top quartile converts 49.96% of installs into subscribers, against 29.89% for the average app. Apps that send merchants to subscribe right after install, and onboard them after, reach 50% and more. On the listing (19.34% against 30.67%), the factors are review count and score, visuals, persuasive copy, and pricing presentation. Because the steps multiply, closing the gap on either one lifts the whole funnel. See Shopify app conversion rate optimization.
Shopify app churn benchmarks
| Metric | Average app | Top quartile |
|---|---|---|
| Customer churn rate | 8.95% | 4.69% |
| 24-hour uninstall rate | 30.71% | 22.80% |
What it means. The average app loses almost 9% of its paying customers every month; the top quartile about half as many. Nearly a third of installs are gone within a day for the average app. Churn is one of the Shopify app KPIs that decide growth.
Shopify app traffic and customer benchmarks
| Metric | Average app | Top quartile |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly app store page visitors | 644 | 1,075 |
| Monthly installs | 147 | 268 |
| Paying customers | 508 | 838 |
What it means. The top quartile gets 67% more app store page visitors but 82% more installs, because its listings convert better. To grow the top of the funnel, see how to double your Shopify app store page traffic.
How should you use these benchmarks?
- Find your biggest gaps. Put your numbers next to the averages above and mark the metrics where you’re furthest behind.
- Start with the steps that multiply. Conversion steps compound, so a weak funnel step is usually the fastest win. Fix the weakest first.
- Compare with your niche. Customize the benchmarks to your competitive space.
- Re-check after each change. Compare the step before and after.
